John L. Doyne served as a member of the Wisconsin Assembly for two years before serving in the U.S. Navy in World War II. In 1953, he was appointed Deputy County Treasurer. Appointed to fill a vacancy on the County Board in 1954. Elected to the County Board in 1956. Served as Acting Chairman until the death of Lawrence J. Timmerman in 1959 when Doyne became Chairman. Elected to newly created office of County Executive in 1960. Served four successive terms before retiring in 1976. The County Exec...
